GAAAH...this book was all kinds of Awesome. I've been dying to know more well-nigh the Kingmaker (Uilleam Runehart) and Karina (Belladonna) every time they popped up in i of this author'southward other books. GAAAH...this book was all kinds of Crawly. I've been dying to know more virtually the Kingmaker (Uilleam Runehart) and Karina (Belladonna) every fourth dimension they popped up in one of this author'due south other books. So to say I had high expectations would be an understatement. However, expectations seem to be getting the improve of me lately, with several books falling brusk in that regard. This was quite a boring burn, but this couple's on folio chemical science was OFF THE CHARTS. And once we practise get to the sex scenes, they were HOT. In that location is a proficient cast of secondary characters (Orion being my favorite). I wouldn't say that this was a peculiarly angsty book, simply if you know the history between these two then you know what is coming and information technology fabricated my eye hurt to recollect about that (sniff). Both the main characters were extremely likable, well developed, and intriguing. Final, this one ends on a bewilderment (with four more than books to come). So do be enlightened of that.
SIDE NOTE: I want to give Miz Miller an extra shoutout considering I greatly admire an author that can write a volume(s), a FANTASTIC book(s) with lilliputian to no other women drama. In that location was non a Single mention of the heroes past sex life in this book. No over the top crazy other women throwing themselves at him. No other women causing ridiculous drama. And most of the books I have read by this author have been like this. It is refreshing, to say the least. And so I'k giving yous a standing ovation London Miller (lol).

You know whats really refreshing? When an writer creates a hero that is an alpha but isnt a domineering asshole. When he exudes sexual confidence every time he enters a scene but doesnt come off as a manwhore. When he's clearly an anti hero but still treats the heroine with massive amounts of respect. THAT is what I want to read.

The heroine was only as fantastic (even if she was a virgin.) She was cunning and smart and could agree her ground against the hero. How many books accept you read where the heroine is duped over and once again past the H and fabricated to look like an idiot? Stutters and blushes all over the place until shes a puddle of estrogen. Not this h- she was exactly what I expect for in potent female person characters. She had a strong, subtle grace to her grapheme that seems like its difficult for other authors to pull off.
Recommend to all who want a solid safe read.
Rubber:
Slight OM drama.
No OW drama (in fact, you dont hear about his sexual past at all. Its not even mentioned in passing.)
No cheating. No other people subsequently they encounter.
No pushing away from the h. The h initially pushes him away but shes making him work for it.
Heroine is a virgin.
I wanted to see more of the the MCs' confrontation tbh but instead they chop-chop found themselves "on ane side of the route".
I would accept liked it better if the author had explained and described some things more precisely. I often felt she merely gave united states the outcome which took away from the intrigue and left me unsatisfied. I wanted to judge and wonder more almost the turns and twists.

On height of that a heroine who is an investigative announcer? Excavation into a case that leads to more twists and turns every bit the plot thickens? I ate this up.
Karina has just as many secrets every bit Uilleam and I tin't wait to see him start to unravel them in the next volume.
This book was long --this looks to be a saga, each book around 400 pages each. I'grand sticking around for now, but that does seem kind of on the long side. The slow-fire worked really well hither though.
Book half dozen currently has not released, and the author hasn't posted anything on her social media profiles for awhile. Typically I wouldn't go along with an unfinished series with no updates, but each volume is and then long, and reviews for volume 5 talked virtually resolution for many of the plot threads, so I'one thousand okay with this. The writer also isn't publishing anything else, so she's clearly taken a break from publishing for the time existence.
A huge cheers to the writer for crafting a story grounded in realism. That's what I actually need to be able to savour a story. So many authors, specially in dark romance/romantic suspense go balls to the wall and throw in everything and the kitchen sink. I can tell when an author spent more than time writing a story, took intendance of the details, and made certain the story has a level of actuality. I'one thousand going to be reading more from London Miller hoping this is a common trait in her writing.
Random, simply I liked the conclusion to have the Hero come from old coin. Too the heroine--Karina's mom I'thou non certain comes from one-time coin though. At that place is this old coin vibe to both Uilleam and Karina that's refreshing. Karina took Uilleam's level of wealth in stride. It wasn't something that shocked or impressed her because of her upbringing. Karina'south characterization was excellent. Yous could run across the moral grayness in her, and how she couldn't assistance but be drawn to Uilleam despite knowing better.
I've besides learned that I really savour books with newspaper dramas. I showtime constitute this out later on I read The Women of Eden. John Murray Eden's hatred of the Times for publishing the expose commodity on him was the highlight of that book for me. In this volume Karina ruffling feathers with her commodity on Paxton was a nice affect past the author. Both subplots in these books had threats of lawsuits for defamation, subpoenas (well in The Women of Eden), intimidation tactics to go the journalist to shut up and stop investigating, etc, etc. I desire to discover more than books with journalists & paper dramas.

This is by far--Past FAR--London's best work. Ever. When she brings out all her skills to play at the same time, what you get is White Rabbit. I feel similar she has been waiting to write this series for and then long, to become back and evidence everything, that it just fell onto the folio like a picture show playing out. This series is standalone. Autumn in dear with a man who was given his name by a adult female who simply wanted to find out who she truly was without the influence of others. Find out how they fell in dear ... this book was amazing.

He doesn't need women to "salve his stress" or to have equally "arm-candy". He doesn't even accept a secretarial assistant. Information technology's just him and he but sees and wants the Heroine.

Cute story, beautifully written.Totally safety book. Hero isn't a manwhore. There's no mention of any other women/relationships at all. He doesn't fifty-fifty wait at another women. He doesn't need women to "salve his stress" or to have every bit "arm-processed". He doesn't even have a secretary. It's just him and he only sees and wants the Heroine.
No cheating, no separations (only a physical one for 2 weeks), no push button and pull. Hero isn't domineering, doesn't force or tells Heroine what to practice. He's a flake jealous, just that's totally ok in my book. Possessive in the most sexy style.
There's a flake of drama at the end, and I feared for the worst. Only thankfully the author didn't need to go that way. Hero doesn't leave the Heroine because of a "misunderstanding" or because of "injure feelings". No he waits for her, enervating answers and then he sees for himself, that he was in the wrong and fifty-fifty apologizes and everything is resolved. No unnecessary drama.
And I loved that the Heroine didn't take a overzealous BFF who tells her to go out and go laid already, because that's the solution of all the issues.
Now I'thousand awaiting (not so patiently) the next book in this series.
...moreTo say I was at a loss for words when that happened would exist an understatement. Once once more, I'thousand finding myself defenseless off baby-sit trying to pen my thoughts to paper on White Rabbit - The Ascension by London Miller. It started off unexpectedly like a detective/murder mystery type read, only the reader actually knows upfront what has happened. You lot end up watching Karina and Uilleam, the main couple, circle effectually each, all while ultimately falling head over heels in love.
There are twists, turns, and several secrets tied upwardly in this storyline, my swain romance volume loving friends. That doesn't even include the hints of underlying subplots and interesting sub-characters that are probable to be further revealed equally this series continues to unfold in future books. Just know this main couple both have very complex pasts and backgrounds that are very likely to collide and perchance fifty-fifty crash and fire temporarily.
So venture if you cartel down this complicated, criminal rabbit hole with Karina and Uilleam, equally they are sure to take to bargain with more than one devil to secure their future and happiness.
Title: White Rabbit - The Rise, Series: The Kingmaker Saga (Book i), Author: London Miller, Pages: 389, to be connected catastrophe, some very steamy scenes subsequently sixty%, criminal backdrop, both take complicated pasts, past kid abuse, great subcharacters, intricate plot put into motion, virgin heroine, no OW drama, one OM seems interested in her, no cheating, romance condom.

Plus, the grammar was not expert. In that location were passages that weren't fifty-fifty sentences. And I'm not talking about stylistic fragments either.
I mostly don't rate something that I haven't read the majority of, but I merely tin't imagine this getting much better. The beginning was a bit interesting, merely the insta-allure watered downwardly everything. Peradventure this gets a lot amend by the 44% marker, but I'm bored and simply saw that the side by side volume features this couple likewise. I might've been able to push through this one book, only three? I might revisit this but probably not.
...moreUilleam and Karina first meet in NYC when she investigates a murder that he has covered up at the asking of a powerful CEO. She gets much further than he expected her to; intrigued and more than a little aroused, he begins to "court" her. The residuum of the volume details their burgeoning relationship, complicated past their competing agendas (he covers up crimes; she reveals them) and nighttime family unit secrets.
There'south a lot to like about this book; I'm going to concentrate on iv aspects that particularly appealed to me:
i) Ms. Miller takes two well-known sub-genres -- dark erotic romance and organized crime -- and manages to add together some novel twists. On the surface, this begins with the typical "practiced girl softens bad male child" trope, but, thankfully, doesn't stay with information technology for long. While it'southward true that Karina has a much stronger moral compass than Uilleam has, we go enough hints almost her background to know that she's going to reveal that iron paw in her velvet glove very soon. Which brings me to...
two) Karina is much stronger and possesses a lot more bureau than most h's practice in these genres. Usually, enormous power and socio-economic disparities exist between the mafia man and the woman he pursues: even if he pursues a mafia "princess," she's usually controlled by her father. Here, though, it's clear that Karina is Uilleam'south equal partner and worthy opponent. Which brings me to...
3) Karina and Uilleam are refreshing in that they really course a believable couple predicated on something other than hormones. While in that location is insta-lust, the human relationship itself is a comparative irksome burn; in addition, the two have a lot in common (physically and emotionally abusive parents who viewed their children solely as extensions of themselves; nighttime and circuitous family histories; and clandestine identities that foreclose them from getting shut to others). Note: I didn't mind that there were few erotic scenes, just others might.
iv) Mob Wars (view spoiler)[are usually conducted between criminal families; while that'southward true here, the fact that Uilleam's is predominantly male and Katrina'due south female adds an interesting twist that I promise the author explores (hide spoiler)].
That said, I had three bug. Though I will finish the series and may revise this review after I exercise, thus far, this volume displays the following weaknesses:
ane) Manner: I've read a lot of indie authors in the last few years and remain awestruck past the sheer number who resort to frequent long internal monologues to convey information and reveal character. This is something I'd really similar to see curtailed. Long passages with no dialogue and action are repetitious and create sluggish narratives. I skimmed several pages and, if I missed anything, I wasn't enlightened.
ii) Dialogue: Characters oftentimes answered a question with a question or spoke in riddles. After a while, this tactic became unnecessarily curvation.
3) Plot Holes, Continuity Errors, & Narrative Ellipses: This may become addressed in subsequent books, merely a lot here doesn't add upwardly. For instance, Uilleam is presented as a man with endless resources who does his homework, yet he somehow doesn't realize that Karina (view spoiler)[isn't who she says she is even though she doesn't announced to be using an alias (hibernate spoiler)]. Scenes end in the middle of conversations; later we observe out the resolution, just don't see the journeying. How, for instance, does Uilleam manage to (view spoiler)[survive his bump-off attempt? Fasten Gaspard'southward drink (hide spoiler)]? And several continuity errors exist, including the fact that though Karina tells Uilleam that she has a sis, several pages afterward, the narrative tells us that she hadn't. And Orion's warning to Uilleam about Karina is never revisited.
three 1/2 stars which I'm raising to 4 because at no time does Uilleam impairment or boldness Karina. Though this doesn't end in a cliff-hanger, several lines of action will continue in subsequent volumes. Oh, and Ms. Miller: as a native New Yorker, I'thousand here to tell you that no one calls the subway the "metro."
...more thanUilleam was a man on a mission, and I loved trying to figure out his endgame and the lengths he would become to to get what he wanted, and 1 of the things he wanted well-nigh... Karina. He didn't stop until he got her and I was beyond excited each fourth dimension he of a sudden appeared in her life.
Karina was strong and had a mystery of her own going on, not to mention being an extremely good journalist. She spoke her listen I really enjoyed this volume. Trying to unravel the mystery that was The Kingmaker and His Queen.
Uilleam was a man on a mission, and I loved trying to figure out his endgame and the lengths he would go to to get what he wanted, and one of the things he wanted about... Karina. He didn't end until he got her and I was beyond excited each time he all of a sudden appeared in her life.
Karina was stiff and had a mystery of her own going on, not to mention being an extremely good journalist. She spoke her mind and stood upward to Uilleam, which just served to brand him fifty-fifty more attracted to her.
Their scenes were electric, their moments filled with mischievous smiles (mostly Uilleam on this one) and sexual tension.
In that location was action, lots of scheming, and lots of romance. I definitely desire to go back and read the others volume to run across what part Uilleam and Karina played in them. I can't expect for the next volume. ...more
This book was so worth the await. Everything near it was what I wanted. I was bitter my teeth waiting for the bomb we all know that is going to go off. I know book 2 will have a boatload of angst and I am so excited. I missed London'south writing so much and am happy to read anything by her.

White Rabbit is a hit title, considering during reading this book you lot experience similar you've actually fallen into a rabbit hole. Something beautiful!Welcome to the criminal world in which the game of power is being played. In a world shrouded in mystery and danger. It's said that dearest can exist found in the strangest places. Uilleam and Karina establish their right here.
Uilleam, the notorious Logroller is a effigy known amidst criminals. Legend has it that at the correct cost he'south able to become rid of all your issues. You simply have to option his involvement. However, the man has more ambitions and wants to climb higher on the criminal ladder. Unfortunately, with his next "task" Uilleam finds a small obstacle in the grade of a beautiful Karina, who is adamant that the person responsible for the crime will suffer the consequences ...
Karina is a announcer and apparently leads a normal life. When a new topic is assigned to her, the woman begins to draw her ain theories and thus finds the secret of the mysterious Fixer. Only is she set to trip the light fantastic toe with the devil?
Captivating. That's what the story described in this book is. The plot is simply addictive and the characters are fascinating. I admire Uilleam. The man is common cold, composed and calculating, every bit well as set to his goal and persistent in his efforts. Karina, in turn, is a hard and extremely bold woman. Despite the sensation that the state of affairs is very dangerous, it doesn't cease in her activities. And the chemical science between these two ...whoa! Although the feelings developed here slowly, through ¾ of the book I felt surrounded by the heat of these two.
White Rabbit: The Ascent is definitely an addictive read. Information technology's lightly written, the plot is all-consuming and the author'south fashion makes the pages turn themselves. The whole book is perfectly polished, at that place are no unnecessary dramas. I hope very much that the author will take compassion on me and I will not have to wait long for the continuation of this story. I feel completely unsatisfied! I need more!

Some other thing I noticed was that I kept feeling like I was missing something, as if I should have gone into this story already knowing who Uilleam & Karina were. Since this as my first London Miller book, I apace found out that these ii characters were introduced in another serial. So, I'm thinking maybe this was the reason why I felt similar this. I probably should have read the other serial to have me properly invested in White Rabbit. White Rabbit: The Ascension is one of my best reads of this twelvemonth. I honestly don't know how London is doing that kind of magic. The Flavour of Betrayal is ane of my all time favorite mafia trilogy. Then I moved quickly to Acquainted and again information technology was a slice of perfection. I managed to finish Volkov Bratva and she announced The White Rabbit and I was practically screaming with excitement. As y'all may assume, I went completely blind with Uilleam's story. Permit'southward start with two simple names: Kingmaker and Belladonna. Who in the correct mind won't exist intrigued by these ii names?! This whole book was brilliant commencement to the awesome series, I enjoyed both characters way to much, their interactions, dialogues, dull-burning mutual attraction, all these elemens together created the unforgettable experience. London is that kind of author who always continue you on edge but at the same time gives you well developed answers, clearly explains this or that decisions. Although, this particular story left with a vast amount of unanswered questions and theories about what's coming next. The anticipation level for the next volume is already killing me.
My applauses to London. I love that artistic mind of yours.

If you have read those books yous know well-nigh the teasing 'Codex' chapters at the terminate of each, non to mention the nasty battle that Belladonna wages against The Kingmaker. Without a shadow of a doubtfulness I needed to know how they met and fell in love with each other. Theirs was apparently a love story written across the stars and branded across their souls in a most painful way. What made their beloved turn to hate in such a catastrophic way?
Uilleam is a fixer, a dark and powerful figure in the underworld. If y'all accept the money, and he is interested plenty in yous, he tin can make your problems disappear. Karina is an investigative journalist whose relentless pursuit of the truth brings her to his detect. Uilleam is enraptured by this adult female who isn't scared by him, Karina is before long obsessed by this mystery of a man.
The chemistry between this pair sizzled off the page. From the moment their eyes first met neither could escape the depict of the other and I totally believed in both their attraction and feelings. By the stop I actually loved both characters, they had somewhat similar upbringings, but have chosen to live very unlike lives.
Karina is very easy to connect with immediately, despite the secrets she is keeping her integrity and morals make her incredibly likeable. It takes longer to warm to Uilleam, not because he isn't an extremely well written graphic symbol, but rather that he isn't a skillful or kind man. All the same once you feel his need for Karina y'all definitely see a different side to him.
This is a longer novel, yet it never dragged. My attending was held throughout as I followed this complex plot. In that location are layers, shades and depths to this volume. How the author not only thinks of such astonishing plots but also manages to keep them straight in her head astounds me.
I loved that this part of the story ended at a natural point. Ms Miller doesn't need to claw united states of america in past giving united states a cliffhanger, her boggling writing skills have already done that. I am totally caught up in Uilleam and Karina's story and will definitely be reading the next volume.

This books was a jewel, a very special gem, I was so happy to read this 2 characters, both are strong and regardless my love for Uilleam I have to admit that Karina got me totally. I want to be similar her (Lol), I got a little mad at her on the last volume of the Den of mercenaries but as I read most her on this book, well it'due south impossible not to like her.
Every bit e'er, the story it'due south soo well conducted, London information technology'southward ane of my top 5 writers in English (my lenguaje is Spanish) and it'south because she actually work her stories, the way she describe and wrapped the characters and places information technology'southward magical. I can meet my self feeling and seeing everything, included the sad parts that make me cry.
She is soo good.
I wish I can tell you more than virtually this simply I like to continue this review without spoiler, just thrust me and go read the book. Fantastic task London and I can't wait for the next volume!!! ...more than

The beginnings of a King and the Queen bold enough to be past his side. Uilliam chess similar quest for ultimate ability is his singular goal until he crosses paths with the with the beautiful and tenacious journalist Karina Ashworth. I am all in my feelings over these 2 and this was exactly what I was hoping for!!! The beginnings of this iconic pair lays the groundwork for the explosive future we experienced in the the Den of Mercenaries books. The king earlier he was the maker and Queen that had yet to be pushed into her queendom. The chemistry between these two is magic and explains why they are so agonized. The beginnings of them and the problems they face while trying not to fall into the traps of others is complex and enthralling!
As usual London weaves globe's so intense and beautifully written that y'all hate for the story to end....God knows I was salty at the end!!!

No intimate scenes other than the Hero and heroine.
Bit wordy, I felt if you cut back a flake on the description information technology could have been less books tot he series but I appreciate this may exist the authors way.
Ends leading into next book. It'south okay.

Essentially, White Rabbit is the story of the Kingmaker's journeying to infamy. He exists at the summit of the chain in a complex power
Curiosity and intrigue were at the forefront of my desire to read White Rabbit. It was the chance to understand Karina, the woman who has been referred to throughout the Den of Mercenaries serial. Karina was a woman I was prepared to despise. I was startled when I instantly connected with her and it fabricated me wonder what on earth could accept happened betwixt then and now.Essentially, White Rabbit is the story of the Kingmaker's journeying to infamy. He exists at the superlative of the chain in a complex powerful globe. Well at least I causeless he did because now I can see he has visitor. Friends are far and few. Loyal alliances valued above all but what is life without friends, especially when your family is more about business than love.
"Should I even ask how you managed this?" "Friend of a friend of an enemy. Small circles, ya know."
In true London Miller fashion, she opens the story with a commanding first sentence (not the quote above, you demand to experience that on the page!). From there her writing draws you into a globe of characters that operate outside of conventional boundaries. It is the story backside the story in more means than ane. Karina is working as a reporter for a paper. She has been raised to understand words accept power. The truth of such resonates throughout the book. 1 give-and-take can be a command, a death sentence or if you're lucky the reason yous wake to see another day.
He might have made her feel a lot of things, but fear wasn't 1 of them.
Karina is a natural built-in queen who is unaware of her potential. Her motivation leads her to her destiny. Torn between her heart, family expectations and moral compass, she is conscious of the touch on her choices will take on her and others. There is equally much mystery surrounding Karina as there is Uilleam. I adored her enquiring mind and the way she struggled with finding her center each time drama erupted. Minimal fourth dimension spent with her family merely added to the growing lists of questions I have virtually Karina. The question is how much she is willing to pay to be the queen…
"Am I really that transparent?" "Only when you're visualizing prey."
Uilleam on the flip side is more transparent than he has been in any book so far. He's most to build his army of mercenaries. While I know who to await, the backstory of how they became to be with the Kingmaker is what I am craving. So far, he has Skorpion at his side. Information technology was expert to take hold of up with him, even though he was busy working. We know there are more mercenaries to come up and here in is where my thirst for the next volume is building on top of what acquired the inevitable rift.
White Rabbit is only the beginning and readers volition be relieved to know that while the phrase 'To Be Connected' leaps off the last page, the catastrophe is resoundingly a HFN and will go out you in a adept space as nosotros wait for the side by side book to arrive. Be sure to scroll through the affiliate headings, they provide a hint at what you accept to await forward to beginning with The Would-exist Male monarch.
